About Us
In partnership with Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD), Genome Prairie has established four regional innovation networks in areas of strategic interest.
- Canadian Flax Genomics Initiative (CFGI)
- Canadian Brassica Genomics Network (CBGN)
- Western Canadian Vaccine Network (WCVNet)
- Genomics and Society Network (GE³LS)
These networks aim to strengthen collaborations among industrial, academic, and governmental stakeholders. Genome Prairie facilitates network activities with goals of recognizing and implementing genomics opportunities, enabling the exchange of information and fostering a more cohesive and effective genomics R&D community. Activities such as coordinating regular committee meetings, workshops, network community events, and providing regular progress reports to WD are overseen by Genome Prairie.
Formal steering committees have been established for the four networks. These committees have identified strategic priorities that will guide network actions and activities. These strategic priorities revolve around the following objectives:
- Identifying areas of common interest and collaboration;
- Leveraging investments;
- Creating partnerships and exploiting synergies of expertise and facilities;
- Streamlining research and development initiatives to maximize returns on investment;
- Facilitating the development and commercialization of collaborative genomics research projects;
Genome Prairie's networks are catalysts for a vibrant, genomics-driven life sciences cluster with far reaching social and economic benefits to Saskatchewan, Manitoba and all of Canada.
